Day 4 - Belize City, Belize

Day 4 we woke up in Belize. Thanks to Rik's wonderful researching we had reservations to go on a zip-line through the jungle & then tubing on a river that runs through a series of caves with Major Tom & the Fun Team. Major Tom & the Fun Team was a great little company that consisted of Major Tom, his son Minor Tom, Gorilla George, & Brother Love. They were a great bunch of guys who were GREAT tourguides, gave us lots of insite into the real Belize & very fun kids. Brother Love was our specific tourguide & he was AMAZING, and lots of fun. We started with the zip-line which I had totally underestimated. It was a series of 7 zip-lines that took us through the jungle canopy. It was probably one of my favorite things we did on the trip. First we got suited up. Heidi & Rik

Emily (somehow I didn't end up with any pics of her actually doing it, which is a bummer, because it took some serious conquering of fears for her to do it, & I'm so glad she did. I think she was too.

Here's Heidi getting hooked up.

Here are all of us with Brother Love ready to zip-line

After the zip-line we took a little hike through the jungle to get to the river we were going tubing down. It was a beautiful hike. The jungle was so amazingly beautiful.

Here's where we got into our tubes & the FREEZING water and started our tubing.
Here's our little caravan of tubing.
Here's Brother Love pulling our caravan which he did for most of the time while he told us all kinds of interesting things about the caves, the Mayan beliefs, & himself & his life in Belize. When we got towards the end of the cave tubing we saw this spot where the sun came through the caves and the jungle sprouted up because the sun was there. I was totally inspired by it. It was so majestic. The picture doesn't do it justice.
Here is what it looked like when we emerged from the cave. I honestly can't believe that I made it through the caves without a panic attack.

Aren't those zip lines great? We did one in Puerto Vallarta and I have to say that after the birth of my kids, it was probably the most thrilling and memorable thing I have ever done. I screamed bloody murder the entire time--we were SO high off the jungle floor--but loved every minute of it..what a rush! So glad you got to do it.
It sure looks like it was a great trip for you guys. I need to go again!!!
