Alex's Tricks

Alex has learned some new tricks lately. He just learned how to bark today. As most know we have a very cute, very old, and VERY possessive beagle named Nick. He barks if anyone walks by our house, even if they're on the other side of the street. (I think he's about given more than one set of missionaries a heart attack.) He does, however, make us feel much safer, and he really is a sweet little, "grumpy old man" dog. So back to why this has to do with anything. Today as I was sorting through the PILES of junk mail Alex found a coupon with a picture of a beagle on it. He confiscated it, and was carrying it around. I then noticed he would stop every few steps (or crawls) and make a new noise. Then Nick started barking. He crawled over to the screen door to look at Nick and made the noise again. Something happening twice got my attention, and as I listened I realized he was echoing Nick's barking. It was so cute! After Nick stopped barking he still carried the coupon with the dog on it around stopping every few minutes to look at it and bark. He did that for almost an hour. I just loved it. Now he'll do it on command. Who knew such a little thing could make my day. I just love my little Alex boy. I don't know what I'd do without him. I'm so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knew I needed him, and entrusted him to me. I love you Alex! Below is a video of his new barking, as well as some other things he's learned recently.
