I decided a while ago that I needed to give Jameson a little freedom to make his own choices so he could learn how to make good ones. I've started by letting him choose what shirt he will wear each day, and on day I know we'll just be at home cleaning I let him wear whatever he wants. This week on laundry day I let him pick whatever he wanted to wear because I knew we would be home all day. He chose one of his favorite outfits, his "basketball" outfit and a toy plastic watch a friend had given him the day before. I thought, "Great he's matching and everything". After his nap that afternoon he wanted to go somewhere so he decided to get his shoes on. He chose his black Darth Vader socks and a pair of Spiderman swimming shoes that are a size to big. Despite my best effort to coax him out of that ensemble, it was no use. He was set on wearing the entire outfit together. I was dying laughing. He definitely knows what he likes and doesn't care who knows it. That night when Klint got home and looked at him he said "Kid, you are just like your Mama." The sad part is that I couldn't even be offended. My entire life I've come up with things that I like and think are cool (ie: camouflage anything, pajamas in public, or socks that are crazy & don't match) and I wear them no matter where I'm going or what I'm doing. I have to admit I was just a little bit proud of him for knowing what he wants and sticking up for it, even if it was a little crazy. Someday hopefully that quality will transfer into other areas of his life as he gets older. Here he is showing off his "coo stuff".
I had to post something about Alex too. That same day Alex discovered Daddy's flip flop and tried to wear it around the house. This is totally ridiculous because if you only knew how hard I try to keep ANY shoes on that child for more than 30 seconds you'd pity me, a lot. Well, this day I found Alex with one of Klint's flip flops trying desperately to walk all over the house and keep it on. It was pretty funny. He was trying so hard to keep it on that I couldn't even get him to look up for a second to take a picture.

Britt does the same thing! He has a tie-dye shirt that we made and he wants to wear it EVERY DAY! The hard part was when it would be snowy outside and he wanted to wear shorts and sandals. Kids are so fun that way... :)
LOL - I love wearing pajamas out too!! Seriously, I would wear scrubs 24/7 if I could!
How cute that he loves choosing his clothes.
how darling!
It's neat that you allow him to do that. I'm sure he'll appreciate that his mama let him do his own thing.
That is so awesome that you let your kids wear what they want!! I'm sure he appreciates it, cuz he thinks he looks super cool!
By the way, I love crazy sock, crazy clothes, and if you ever see Disney Princess Tennis Shoes in my size - let me know, I will buy them in a heartbeat!!
