We finished off our road trip to Central with a stop at Grandma Layton's to visit. We all love to visit Grandma Layton. She's always so much fun to talk to, and I always love to hear the history she tells us whether it be family history or Central history and the history of how they are interlocked. Grandma & Grandpa Layton both grew up in Central, AZ so she's seen LOTS of things change, but I think she'd say the best change has been the addition of the temple. She did say that she wondered why they didn't put the temple on her hill. She said that all they had to do was ask and she would have given it to them. I think she still got a pretty good deal with where it is because her house overlooks it. Here is the view of the temple from her house.
This isn't a great picture, but if you look closely you can see the temple on the left & Grandma Layton's house on the right.
The boys LOVE to play with Grandma Layton & her old fashioned & new toys. The loved taking things out of her toy basket and bringing them to her to show them to her & play with her. Here are a few pictures of the boys playing with Grandma Layton.
Here are my boys with Grandma Layton.
Feisty Grandma Layton & Klint.
Here are the boys giving Grandma Layton "loves" before we left. They LOVE Grandma Layton and love going to visit her.
I had to take some pictures of some neat things that we stop and look at every time we visit Grandma Layton. I decided we needed to take pictures of them so we can always remember them. Grandpa Layton passed away just before Klint & I met. He loved his horses, farming & loved their cabin up on Mt. Graham. From all I've heard he was quite a character & he & Grandma were made for each other. No one else probably could have handled the other. Grandpa's tattered old jackets still hang in the garage along with his chaps & spurs. You can't visit Grandma with out thinking of Grandpa & their special relationship as you walk to the door passing Grandpa's well-worn things.

Hey I know grandma Layton! She was in my ward growing up, how fun. Jason doesn't know all the schools he's applying to yet one for sure is St. Francis in New Mexico. We will actually be living in Thatcher for a few months and then wherever Jason finds a job that gives good clinical experience. If you're husband doesn't mind I'm sure Jason would love to ask him some questions. That's so awesome that he's finished! That seems like SUCH a long way away for us. Your boys are super cute!!
Are you flippin kidding me? You had to post something like that 1 month after we leave? Talk about homesick...thanks for posting those pictures..I miss Grandpa.
