We thought we'd do something fun for Jameson this summer so we signed him up for swimming lessons. He just finished his first session and...... it was absolute torture! He had a FABULOUS teacher (who happened to be a kid from my parents' ward) that was so sweet with him and SO patient. It started off bad when Jameson wouldn't get into the pool at all the first day. (There were only 8 lessons) I left that day wondering if we should even try coming again, but I decided we'd give it one more shot. The second day I resorted to bribery. When he told me that he didn't want to go back to swimming lessons & he wanted to go to the splash park instead that was it. I promised him if he would get in the water he could have fruit snacks when he was done and then we would go to the splash park. Well it worked, and as long as we went to the splash park every day after swimming lessons he got in the water, and soon he was even staying in for the entire half hour. He eventually got more comfortable in the water and especially with his teacher Trevor. Soon Trevor was his best friend and he would trust him with his life. I think, even though it was a complete hassle, he ended up making A LOT of progress. The last day as we were getting ready to go I was explaining that after today Trevor wouldn't be his teacher anymore. He asked if he could have a picture with Trevor. I thought it was so cute, and of coarse I couldn't turn him down. Trevor agreed so here it is, along with a couple of others I took that day.

Practicing kicks with his buddies from class Michael (from our ward) and Austin (from our stake)

The whole class. This was Jameson's favorite part of class.

He looks like he's not happy, but he's really having fun. He's making sound effects for their motor boat.

We decided to sign him up for the same class again but we'll do it in the evening hoping that the water being warmer might help him.

Sounds like he's as stubborn as my kids! I am signing mine up too...I hope we have success.
Fun! I'm glad Britt isn't the only one who was less than thrilled about swimming lessons this year. He LOVES the water, but this year he was too old for the mom & me class, so he had to be with all the other kids while me and Marnie were on the other end of the pool. He only cried for the first day though. :) I love Jameson's swimwear too! I thought about getting Britt one like that, but I figured with his long hair, he'd get mistaken for a girl. :)
Jada would have loved the raft! Very cute!
Okay so Porter's first lesson is on tuesday and he LOVES water so I am hoping he does ok. My biggest concern is him not listening to the teacher and just jumping in the pool every other second....but who knows. We'll see!! Glad that Jameson made progress, it gives me hope!!
I am so glad we got to be in class with you guys!!
