Growing up my family did a lot of camping every summer. Granted it was "pansy camping" because we never went somewhere without water and an outhouse, but I loved every minute of it. As my kids grow up I want them to have some of those same great experiences, so we try to get at least one trip in a year. This week we made our first trip of the year (and hopefully not our last). While the kids are still too young for Yahtzee, and we have a tent instead of a 1960's trailer to sleep in, we still had a wonderful time. We even went to the traditional Ponderosa Campground that my family has gone to for years. As we took our walks around the campground Klint and I remembered lots of spots we'd camped before either with my family or by ourselves. The boys had a blast getting dirty and exploring our site, and we even played a small family game of baseball (which was HILARIOUS!) This is the first year that we were able to just sit and watch the boys play instead of making sure they keep out of the fire and keep in the campsite. It was a very fun and very relaxing trip with BEAUTIFUL weather. Here are the pics. (There's lots) Enjoy!

The boys "helped" Daddy set up the tent and beds.

Alex had his first Ding Dong. (He's saying "Mmmmmm" in this pic)
What a goofy kid.
Everyone had a turn to try every position in our small family baseball game. Here is Jameson pitching, and Daddy hitting. (Side note: Jameson can actually hit the ball almost every time Klint pitches. Thank heavens, because you know our little runt will never be a football player)
Here is Jameson trying to tag Daddy out.
Even Alex had a turn at bat. He absolutely refused to hold the bat the right direction. He may have to stick with football.
We went for lots of short walks around the campground which put Alex right to sleep every time.
Alex learned to show off his muscles.
Of coarse you have to have a yummy camping breakfast. Nothing like camping food.
Then there's always the clean-up of the camping food. The boys are "cleaning up" the campsite, which they did constantly. (They just filled buckets with dirt, rocks and leaves and dumped them into other buckets.)
Jameson insisted that he needed to "clean up" a lot.
Alex just used it as an excuse to get really, really dirty.
Naps were attempted, but as you can see, they never really worked out.
And of coarse there was lots of time to sit in our chairs and enjoy the nice weather and some fruit snacks.

So cute!! You are a good wife, I hate camping so we dont get to do it all that often!!
Looks like fun! It makes me want to go camping.
Alex's muscle picture is super cute!
Thanks for sharing your camping trip to "our family cabin" (it's as close as we got to getting a cabin), but it's home. That we always camped there was intentional, part of the memory.Just think, it's probably more comfort than Dad and I will have for the next 18 mo.
Keep on camping! It's the best way ever to create family memories.
