Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. Never quite understood it. My husband and kids, on the other hand, LOVE it. This year we decided that the kids were so into it (they've been wearing their costumes daily for weeks now) that we'd add a few new traditions so I took the boys to the store and we bought a pumpkin to carve. Jameson had learned about "spooky" pumpkins at school so he was VERY excited. I remembered all the Halloweens as a kids where we carved pumpkins. Dad carved while we all watched & everyone had to have a turn pulling out "pumpkin guts". We decided to do ours for Family Home Evening the Mon before Halloween so we can enjoy it for a few days. The boys knew it was the day and looked forward to it all day. They talked all day about whether they wanted their pumpkin to be "spooky or silly". When Daddy got home they got right to it. It made Halloween a little more fun to watch them get so excited about it. Here are the pics of the evening.
Here they are starting out. I love the look on Jameson's face.
He wasn't too sure about it. LOVE the look on his face.
Then it was on to drawing the face. First they drew out a few on paper to decide what they wanted before they started carving. (notice the way Alex is holding his face, then look at Klint's face in the first pic. They are so much alike)
Let the carving begin. Jameson was SO into it.
I just thought this pic of Alex w/the pumpkin was adorable.
Jameson quickly reminded us that we needed a candle in it to light it up and make it "spooky" so I found one and put it in. The boys were so excited they couldn't stop looking at it long enough to take a picture.
Here's our "spooky" pumpkin all lit up.
Another Halloween tradition has been the preschool Halloween Party and today was the day. Jameson has been looking forward to this party for a long time. Thanks to his great teacher, Aunt Stacy, for making a great party again this year. Here is his whole class dressed up in their costumes for their party.
Of course I had to get a picture of Jameson & Isaac in their costumes. They are having such a great time being in preschool together and getting to see each other so often. These two love each other and were so excited to show each other their costumes.

That is fun. I love the two facial expressions. That is hilarious.
We remember pumpkin carving with such fond memories with kids and with grandkids. I'm so happy to see the tradition go on. I didn't like Halloween too much as a child, but as a parent and a teacher it's the best, isn't it. Who would know you could get such fun from a few yards of fabric and a pumpkin. Aren't kids wonderful!! Thanks for sharing.
Corinne - your boys are adorable!! Hope you had a great Halloween!!
