We spent Sunday on Coronado Island at the beach. Klint spent the day boogie boarding while I just relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere and reading a book. It was just what we needed. It was such a beautiful place.
That night we met up with some of Klint's school friends for a movie and then some crepes and gelato (I know, confusing right) at a fun little place by the hotel. Monday Klint spent the day at the conference while I slept in, got a massage, read in the park, and took a nice long bath. I think I enjoyed my day a little more than Klint, but he learned a lot and got his CME points so the purpose of the trip was fulfilled.
Tuesday we checked out of the hotel and went to tour an aircraft carrier my parents had told us about. We thought we'd spend an hour or so, but we were totally amazed and spent almost 4 hours there. I think I've inherited my love of the military and all of it's facets from my dad, but it was all so interesting. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. One of the best parts about it was that there are tons of retired military guys that once worked on the carrier that volunteer and are all over the ship. They were the cutest little old guys who loved to tell us stories and all of the workings of the ship. I just love the wisdom of the older generation. I just couldn't stop listening. While we were on the flight deck with one of them he was telling us about the USS Ronald Reagan that was going to be leaving the next day. We could see it sitting there right across the harbour. The volunteer then explained that carriers never go out along and there are about 15 other ships and such that always go out with them to protect them (they stay within about 600 miles as an escort). As he was telling us about it one of those "escort" ships was leaving the harbour. We just stood out there and watched it go by. It probably sounds boring, but it was so fascinating we couldn't walk away until it was gone. We finally decided we'd better get on our way home, but it was such a wonderful trip. Thanks to Grammy & Papa for taking the boys for us for a super fun "slumber party" so we could go. Here's a ton of pics from the carrier USS Midway.

How fun!! I think we ported right there!! I remember that really long black ship! So pretty. We toured them a couple years back on vacation, very fun! I'm glad you got a getaway! They are much needed!
I am soo jealous! First Drew and Cassie got to go, now you and Klint. It'll be a good 2 years before TJ and I will get to do anything like that. I'm glad you got the chance though.
What an awesome trip! I love San Diego. That's so perfect that he had to be there anyways and that you had family to watch your boys. I'm glad you had such a fun time:)
Good for you guys even though I am sooooo jealous! Who knows when Matt and I will ever get away. I'm glad someone gets to have some fun:)
