The Zoo with Grammy & Papa

Before it got too hot we decided we needed to take a trip to the zoo with Aunt Stacy and her kids, and Grammy & Papa. Stacy & I have zoo passes, so we go often, but it was especially fun to have Grammy & Papa there this time. To get Jameson to go to bed last night I told him he had to go to bed or we wouldn't be able to go to the zoo today. Of coarse that meant that when he woke up at 5:45 this morning he was ready to be out the door and demanding that we "go to the farm" which is the petting zoo area and farm animals. We met Stacy & Grammy & Papa at the zoo and headed straight for the farm. It even took an act of congress to get Jameson out of the stroller to take a look at the turtles on the way, but eventually we did. The boys (Jameson & Isaac) were in heaven once we got to "the farm". We let them out of the strollers to let them play on the tractors and other things they have to play on in that area. They headed right for the horses and donkey. (No surprise there. My child is obsessed!) They have the cutest little pretend horses (which are just saddles mounted on what looks like saw horses). The boys loved it so we had to be sure everyone got a turn (including Papa), and of coarse got some awesome pics. (Note: Jameson refuses to look directly at a camera right now. Who knows why)
Then it was on to the turkeys, which we thoroughly enjoyed watching my dad torture 'cause they are mean, and the tractor.
Then it was into the petting zoo. I have to be totally honest, I hardly ever take Jameson to this section of the zoo. I'm not a germ-aphobe or anything, but it just really grosses me out for some reason. I decided we have to let him win sometimes, so we ventured in. Even Alex & Trevor got in on the action a little. That is, until a goat looked at Alex and started coming towards him looking like he might eat him. Then Alex was scared and wanted nothing to do with them. He was just happy to wander around by himself with the "monkey backpack" on.
Then it was off to see the Wallaby, which are fun, and to play at the little park they have next to that exhibit. It was a nice little break. The boys had a lot of fun, and we and the babies enjoyed sitting down for a few mins to relax. That is, until Jameson got lost. That was not so fun. Luckily there were lots of people to help look for him. My mom found him hiding behind the park area with some stranger's abandoned Capri-Sun drink. (Mind you it was one I had already told him not to touch because it wasn't ours. Little stinker).
After that it was off to see the elephants and the orangutans, which I love. By that time I had to go home to meet some one who was installing our new dishwasher. Jameson was desperate to "see more animals" so my parents kindly agreed to keep him with them until they were ready to go and they'd bring him home. Jameson was so excited. He was, however, starting to get tired and, even though they'd never admit it, I think my dad probably ended up carrying him most of the rest of the time. He sure had a great time and felt really specially that "Grammy & Papa take me to see Zebras". Thanks so much for coming and making it such a special trip Mom & Dad.

Thanks to you and Stacy for sharing. That's the best gift that a child can give a grandparent. We loved it!!

I gave that monkey backpack to my sister's kids! (yes, I made them share it - I'm cheap). Isn't it the cutest? I love that Jameson won't look into the camera - every picture cracked me up.

The zoo is so much fun!! Yes, we need to get together soon! I actually lost your number, so call me anytime, we are free! Except we only have 1 vehicle right now so it can't be on a Tuesday or Friday. But I'd love to see you and your boys!! Oh and I wanted to laugh so hard when I saw "Shocker" on your blog! Ha ha, good times.
