Alex & the Dentist

The beginning of Feb I took Jameson & Alex to the dentist. We've had some insurance issues so they haven't been for about 18mo. They both did great, but we found out Alex needed some serious dental work done. I had no idea baby teeth could be so much trouble, but Alex had 4 very troublesome little teeth. Both boys grind their teeth really bad & the dentist said Alex had 4 "bad teeth". He said they are a set so they were all made the same time & just weren't made very strong to begin with & with the grinding they've just broken like crazy. The 2 bottom had so little tooth left they had to "baby root canal" & cap them & the top 2 had to be filled. It was expensive, but they were teeth that aren't supposed to fall out til he's about 10 so it had to be done so he didn't get infections, etc in those teeth, so we made the appt and last week he had them all done at once. We decided it would be better to do conscious sedation & just do it all at once so he didn't hate the dentist after all was said and done. I think it was a good choice and he was a trooper through it all. They started out by giving him a little "happy juice". It was pretty funny because he just kept telling me it made him "very sleepy" but he never went to sleep, just thought it was funny that he was so sleepy. Here he is "very sleepy"
Once they were sure that had taken effect they put the gas on him & he was out. He just laid there like a trouper when they worked on him for about an hour.
They tried waking him afterward, but he's not really one to want to ever be woken up so he didn't really wake up so I just carried him to the car where he went to sleep then into the house where he just chilled on the couch for the rest of the day. He didn't like the numbness at all. He kept asking me how "to get that thing out of my lip". Then after his nap he was happy to tell me "that thing got out of my lip while I was sleeping." Here's my cute little snoozer on the way home. He was such a good boy & now loves his "silver teeth". Just ask him & he'll show you.
