Veteran's Day

This year for Veteran's Day I wanted to try to teach my kids a little bit about the purpose of Veteran's Day so I called my sister Stacy & convinced her to come with me to take our boys to the  Veteran's Day Parade in downtown Mesa. (Thanks Stacy for letting me drag you along) I think it turned out to be really fun. When we got there the boys played & danced to music playing until the parade started.
Jameson's showing off his best moves.
Jameson, Alex & Isaac dancing. (Trevor was too fast & ran out of the picture)
Here's our set up. Look at all those cute boys. The babies were pretty good too.
Once the parade started the boys stood right at the edge the whole time to watch it. The loved the motorcycles.
They loved the tanks & various military trucks & even a helicopter that came down the parade route.

Everyone was really excited about this HUGE tank. This picture doesn't even do it's size justice.
This cute couple stood right across the parade from us. They stood there the entire parade & as veterans came along in the parade this man saluted each one & they saluted him back.
Here he is saluting a veteran as he came by. It was so touching.
One of my favorite things in the parade was an elementary school who had every child hand-make a "Thank you" card or picture for a veteran. As they came through the parade they handed one out to each veteran both in the parade & those watching the parade. Here is the cute veteran who stood there the entire time recieving his "thank you card."

I'm grateful to all those who have fought for the freedoms that our country enjoys & am so glad we have a day to celebrate and honor them. We are so blessed to live in this great country filled with so many great people.

It's so great that you're teaching your boys to appreciate those who have served our country. Good for you!
