We had probably one of the biggest days our family has had so far.....The first day of school for my boys. The night before school they each got a Father's Blessing from Daddy to help them out with the upcoming school year. Then we gave them each a backpack with something new for their start of school. They each got a new backpack & new shirt for their first day. (Jameson needed a few more things since he was going to all day kindergarten so he also got a lunchbox & a pair of shoes since he's growing like a weed these days). Then they headed off to bed. The next morning we awoke at 6am to 2 little boys dressed in their new clothes with backpacks on saying they were ready to go to school. Daddy had to go to work before Jameson went off to school so he took a quick pic w/Jameson on this special day.
An hour later we headed off to drop Jameson off. Many people shed tears when they drop off/get dropped off, but I think we were all way too excited for Jameson to start on this wonderful journey. We walked him into the playground, made sure he got his backpack lined up in the right spot & then, with a quick goodbye kiss & hug he was off to the playground to play.
I think the person who was the saddest to have Jameson go was Alex. As we walked away from dropping Jameson off he kept asking "Where is Jameson? Mama Stop. We have to go get Jameson. We can't leave without him." To help try and ease the pain a little I called my sis Stacy (who was on the verge of tears about the fact that Jameson was headed off to school, I told her she could cry for me) and we had them meet us at Jamba Juice for a little consolation smoothie. It was so a fun little outing.
We were so happy when Jameson got home. He had a great day. The next morning I once again woke up nice and early to Jameson in my bed, but this time it was much different....He was whimpering and asking "Mama, can I please stay home now?" When I told him he had to go back to school he said "but I already went to Kindergarten" with a giggle we got him up and going & pretty soon he was happy and ready to go. I think he's worried he's missing out on a party, even though he is really liking school.
On Wed was Alex's first day of preschool. For some reason this one hit me a little harder. He was so excited to go & had been ready and waiting with his backpack. Once we got there, even though it was Aunt Stacy's house & his cousins were there, he suddenly got really shy and was clinging to/hiding behind my leg. I thought for a minute he might cry, but he was so brave and never did. As I got in my car I realized both my boys had started this journey of school & I thought, "How the heck did I get here?" Here's my cute boy in his new Captain America shirt on his first day of preschool.
Here's my cute boy w/teacher Miss/Aunt Stacy.
When I asked Alex what one of his favorite things about preschool was he told me, "playing with (cousin) Trevor" He's so excited that he gets to be in preschool with Trevor. I love that these boys are such good buddies.
Alex did great on his first day. He loves it and can't wait to go back.

I can't believe that both your boys are in school. Life is moving fast, isn't it! They looks so happy and so confident. It's awesome.

This post makes me feel a thousand years old. Tiny beans should stay tiny beans forever:)
I have been the helper or teacher in preschool for Allison but yesterday was the first day I could just leave. I did have sad feelings. It was weird to be childless. On to a new part of our lives.
