Camping

We finally made time to go camping and not a moment too soon. The weekend before school started we headed out of town to our traditional camping spot, Ponderosa. It was such a wonderful trip and a perfect way to end the summer.
Here are my boys "hiking up the hill" that was in our campsite.
This was Ty's first camping trip with us. We were never sure how our little poodle would do out in the wild, but he did great. And this boy was so happy to have his dog.
When it got dark we had whole new ways to have fun around the campfire, like play with flashlights.
Jameson found this cardboard box. What else would you do with it?
Put in on your head of course
The next morning we had lots more fun. We played with bubbles.
We went on "hikes"
The boys were "king of the mountain"
When it got too hot to sit around camp we headed out to try something we had never done before.....fishing. As soon as Daddy threw the line in he hooked our first fish.
Jameson helped Daddy put it in the net.
The boys thought it was so funny to see our fish flopping around in the bucket.
It took us a little while longer to catch the second. Alex did lots to help Daddy.
He helped with the fishing pole.
He helped with the net.
All the while Jameson sat making friends with his "new pet, Remora"

Our 2 little fishies were great little pets while they lasted. It took us a while to get the boys to understand we couldn't keep the fish as pets, but they eventually understood & everyone was ok with the fact that they were gonna be dinner.
Daddy had a great time fishing. Here he is with one of his fish.
That night we cooked up our fish & they were quite tasty, even though only Daddy likes fish. Then we had another fire complete with smores & headed off to bed. The next morning we broke down camp & headed home. Before we left we had to take one more "hike" to the top of our hill to be "King of the Mountain"
Then we piled into the car & headed home. Even though it was only about 9:30 all the fun had completely worn them out and both boys crashed out on the way home.
It was such a great trip. I'm so glad we were able to make a little time for it.

Fishing is so much more fun when you actually catch something. I am glad you guys did. Looks like you had fun.
